Aim: previous designs like intrusion arch (Burstone) and Utility arch (Ricketts) to intrude anterior teeth in patients with deep bite had some advantageous, which required new consideration. The present study investigated new designs in making intrusion arch.Materials and Methods: PATRAN and NASTRAN programs were used in this computerized simulation study. Burstone, Utility arch designs; proposed methods i.e. A and B were loaded in 11 different cross sections and in 3 situations.
Result: the results indicated a lower load-deflection rate in newly designed intrusion arches and a more appropriate condition for implementation of a light continues forces .otherwise, the extent and the type of this placement in posterior blocks due to intrusion arch reaction, were in better condition in new designs comparing with those impervious ones.
Conclusion: Considering the advantages of the proposed designs it seems that their implementation would lead to better results in incisor teeth intrusion.

Aim: The aim of modem orthodontic treatments is to improve facial esthetics as well as dental occlusion and create an attractive smile. The purpose of the present study was to assess lip line in deep bite patients in comparison to the normal situation.Materials and methods: Twenty young (18-24 years) females with anterior deep bite (vertical overlap of upper teeth was more than one third of lower teeth height) participated in this study. Two Standard photographs in frontal view were taken in rest position and posed smile. Incisor show was measured in these two gestures in photoshop program. Descriptive statistical methods were used to analyze data. Results: The average incisor show in our deep bite patients was 76.5% of central tooth crown total height. In 35% of our patients less than 70% of the incisor height was exposed during posed smile, and in 75% of the cases incisor teeth were not seen in rest position. Conclusion: Incisor show was less than minimum level of smile attractiveness in 35% of deep bite patients and the incisors were not seen at rest in 75% of these patients.

Aims: Assessment of skeletal and dentoalveolar changes in class II division 1 patients after treatment with Seifi's functional appliance in dental school of Shahid Beheshti. University in 2007-2008. Methods: In this before- after clinical trial study, Seifi's functional appliance was used for 15 patients (mean age: 9.84±1.24 year) with class II division I deep bite maloccIusion. All of them had mandibular deficiency and ANB>4 degrees, OJ and OB>4mm. Lateral cephalometric and panoramic radiographs, primary impression via alginate, intraoral and facial photographs were taken at the beginning of the study and after 10.2±2.01 months. The results were compared to each other. The device was two pieces and consisted of an acrylic cap on mandibular incisors and a mid palatal screw and a vertical plate on the upper jaw. Results: In sagittal dimension ANB, 1-SN and OJ decreased and SNB increased (P<0.05). Changes of SNA and IMPA were not significant(P>0.05). In vertical dimension OB decreased and L6-MP increased(P<0.05).Conclusion: Due to simultaneous three dimensional correction in transverse, sagittal and vertical dimensions, the patient benefits of the short period of treatment in the golden growth period. Also correction in skeletal and dentoalveolar relations and improvement in profile happens.
